Laziz Can Finally Be a Proud Tiger
Former inhabitant of Gaza Zoo, Laziz can finally be a proud tiger released to a huge, permanent enclosure
Bethlehem, South Africa, 3 October 2016 - Following a remarkable rescue mission, FOUR PAWS successfully evacuated the remaining 15 animals from a zoo in Gaza at the end of August. Among them was lion Laziz, who has now begun a new chapter at the FOUR PAWS Big Cat Sanctuary LIONSROCK in South Africa.
After completing his arrival and adaptation phase, Laziz was recently released into his spacious one-hectare outdoor enclosure, featuring expansive grassland, trees, natural rock formations and a bathing pond. The enclosure provides him with the species-appropriate environment he was previously denied.
According to Hildegard Pirker, Head of the Animal Welfare Department at LIONSROCK, Laziz wasted no time exploring every corner of his new home.
Laziz's arrival at LIONSROCK marks another important milestone in FOUR PAWS' commitment to providing rescued wild animals with a safe and species-appropriate home. His successful relocation from Gaza to South Africa offers him the opportunity to live a life that prioritises his welfare, natural behaviours and wellbeing.
