Rescue Lioness Seeta

Seeta’s Second Chance: From Injury to Sanctuary

Born in February 2008, Seeta endured a painful and dangerous start to life before finding safety at LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary. She arrived in South Africa on 14 June 2010 after being rescued from a dire situation in Jordan.

While living in a zoo, she was housed with an adult male lion who severely injured her. During a routine inspection of local zoos, the Princess Alia Foundation (PAF) discovered Seeta with a deep wound on her front leg. Shockingly, instead of seeking proper veterinary care, her handler attempted to stitch the wound himself three times; each attempt was unsuccessful, leaving her at greater risk of infection.

Recognising the urgency of her condition, PAF intervened and transferred Seeta to the New Hope Centre, where she finally received the medical treatment and care she desperately needed.

Once she had recovered, PAF began searching for a permanent and safe home where Seeta could live in peace and with dignity. They found that home at LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary.

Sadly, Seeta passed away in June 2025. Her story serves as a reminder of the importance of proper care, ethical treatment, and sanctuary spaces for animals rescued from exploitation and neglect.
