Savannah and Jazz together at last

Two widows from completely different circumstances and with very different stories finally will have a happy life together. Jazz lost his partner, Mavi, last year to lymphatic cancer. Both Jazz and Mavi were photo lions used for the tourist trade in Roman

It was decided that Savannah will be an ideal partner for him as she has a very similar temperament to Mavi. Savannah was rescued from the canned lion hunting industry by an animal welfare organization together with a male when they were both still cubs. It was planned by their rescuers that their future would be spent in the wild and they were placed in a boma at a private nature reserve. These plans were destroyed when the wild lions in the nature reserve attacked and killed the male. FOUR PAWS was contacted an immediately stepped in to provide Savannah with a safe home at LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary. Savannah was moved to an enclosure beside Jazz where for many months they have been getting to know each other through the fence.

The team from LIONSROCK decided that the best possible way to unite this couple will be to dart both of them and place them into an open enclosure - neutral territory. The team was nervous as a television crew was also looking on.

First Jazz was darted and moved and then Savannah who growled her dismay at the onlookers. A reversal drug was given to both. After a few minutes Savannah opened her eyes, lifted her head and started moving slowly around. Next Jazz did the same and soon both were curiously circling each other, sniffing and licking, still a bit dizzy from the effects of the drugs.

Both are now lying in the shade of the trees, happily together and will enjoy a life that is no longer lonesome.
